About Us

Carol Scott, the initial Executive Director of The Native American Veterans Initiative is a practicing lawyer in Washington, DC. An experienced veteran's law specialist, she currently works with The Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program and serves as advisor and consultant to a variety of veterans organizations and programs as well as the Veterans Administration and Indian Health Service.

 

Jim Cain, Chairman of the NAVI Board, is an enrolled member of the White Earth Nation, a four tour Viet Nam Veteran, a retired member of the Senior Executive Service from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, a certified Veterans Service Officer, and currently works for Bart and Associates, an Enterprise Software Solutions Integrator  in McLean, Virginia.

Who We Are

The Native American Veterans Initiative is an approved 501 (c) (3) , non-profit organization, formed in the State of Virginia.

Our stated purpose is to establish a national Native American Veteran's facility which provides advocacy for Native American veterans in the areas of Veterans benefits and health care.

Additionally, we will also establish a training program through which representatives of all tribes and nations will be trained and certified as Veterans' Service representatives accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs to represent Native American veterans in their own cultural environmenr and home locations.
